Martin Hyde is an artist and illustrator based in Derby, England. His gothic tinged artworks include the Dead Good Kids brand, the We Come In Peace series, and the Hair Days series. Martins’ website is full of his art, illustration, characters and cartoons. If you are interested in commissioning Martin, or licensing an art work or design, please get in contact.
All Martins’ illustrations start life in a sketchbook, and are hand drawn using pencil and pen. The artwork is then scanned into a Mac and redrawn digitally, creating a very clean style of illustration.
Martin’s illustrations are influenced by his love of alternative music and films. Horror films have always been a passion of Martins’, and elements from this film genre can be seen in his illustration work.
Much of Martins’ illustration work is related to his ‘Dead Good Kids’ children’s brand, ‘We Come in Peace’ cartoon series and his other personal projects. He has also done commercial illustration work for numerous clients in a wide variety of formats, e.g. Flash animations for web sites, record sleeves, fashion accessories etc.
Martin Hyde graduated with an MA with Distinction in June 2004. His final MA project earned him a place as finalist in the Europrix Top Talent Award for young Designer of the Year held in Vienna in November 2004. Martins’ art and design work has been featured in magazines such as Creative Review, and he has created artwork and illustrations for record sleeves, fashion accessories and advertisements.
As well as his art and illustration work Martin has his own design studio called “Design & i” – http://www.designandi.co.uk specialising in branding and design.
In addition to all of this, Martin works on a consultancy basis for the Creative Exchange at the University of Derby.
